Interview 18 – Nightmarish Conjurings

So I am a contributing writer for a horror website called Nightmarish Conjurings, created and managed by Shannon McGrew. With the site I am able to watch movies, review them, attend events, and interview filmmakers and actors - but this time I thought it would be great to interview Shannon herself! 1. How was the website Nightmarish Conjurings born? Answer: It was honestly by accident. Four years ago I had just finished reading Stephen King's "It" and was furious with certain aspects of it. Some friends suggested that I start to blog to not only talk about that book but also my love for the genre. I never thought it would be go anywhere and to my surprise it has. 2. Why do you think the genre of horror is so popular? Answer: I think people like the rush. When watching horror a lot of the ...

Episode 14 – Del Obispo Road

So at the end of last year I wrote a short film based on a story told to me by my friend and actress Rochelle Robinson. I thought it would make a great film and I sat down and wrote it one day while on set filming.  My good friend Edward Coupland wanted to help produce it. Then I wrote my screenplay Axe. Edward read it and loved the complexity of the character. From there he asked me if I would consider adapting the short film Del Obispo Road into a feature - so that he could act in a film that was complex and well written as well.  I asked my friend Brantley - who had just finished his film Chuckles to assist me. We are very proud of this project!   https://open.spotify.com/episode/34KQkRBVS7sMzY5kMwWVGK Mimosas with Michael on Spotify https://youtu.be/ffCg2k5b3I0 BIOS: ...

Interview 14 – Julian Lowenthal

Last year I went to Massachusetts to film a feature film with Sam Elliot and Aidan Turner. I was there for 5 weeks and I really had an amazing time. While there I met a young man named Julian Lowenthal. I was impressed with his work ethic; hard working, friendly, always smiling. While we were filming he told me about his feature he directed 'Silenced' in the local theater. Well, he is finally having his first screening and I thought I would ask him to share his process with us! 1. What is your film 'Silenced' about? It's a psychological thriller-horror about a group of masked villains who decide to rob a theater in small town, the night after a large show. Interview 11 – Dianna Ippolito

The Oscars this year were by far the most diverse I have ever seen - in my honest opinion. It encompassed black, white, gay, straight, women men, and even transgendered. We do have a long way to go, yes, but we are definitely heading in the right direction. So this weeks interview is with Dianna Ippolito who has written and is directing her first feature film; a psychological thriller called Close Your Eyes, next month, April, near San Diego, California. 1.  What was your inspiration for this script? I’ve done quite a few short films as a writer/director and producer and realized that it was time to make the leap into directing a feature. Making any kind of feature film is difficult, no matter how big or little your budget is. So, knowing that I would have to find investors and do some cro...

This fascination drove me to the film ‘An American Werewolf in London’ At the wide-eyed age of 8, I stared at that hairy, magnificent, werewolf in wonderment. From that moment I was hooked to movies. While embarking upon my journey to watch as many movies as I could I realized a couple of things along the way: Sound is major, but only as much as music.  Sound has been a big part of my life, since I was a kid. Whether it be watching Spielbe...
