Happy First Year Anniversary

https://open.spotify.com/episode/63kGpuOxOGZ3FJFbW45jkR Mimosas with Michael on Spotify In September of 2017 I approached my friend Richard Trejo and told him I wanted to launch my own podcast. He was gracious enough at the time to open his home studio for me to record at. He even served as my engineer - and was my third guest on the show! I was fairly new to podcasting - I suppose even one year in I would still be considered a newbie - I just knew I had a good idea and that I loved talking! My first several guests called into the show as Richard's studio was not in Los Angeles and we scheduled around both of our active film schedules. Having guests call in was easier. I would schedule two or three in one afternoon and then we would edit them and release them every other week. Then as ...

Texas Frightmare Weekend

I had the chance to attend the Texas Frightmare Weekend this month in Dallas, Texas, May 3-7, 2018. It was my first time attending this particular convention. It is actually my first time attending any convention out of town - and for an entire weekend. I went with my cousin Daryl, horror YouTuber Mr. Meat Hook (past blog guest) because he wanted to meet his fellow horror YouTubers - and I really thought it would be fun to attend a new event.  So we bought our tickets...and we went! The event takes place at the Hyatt Regency literally attached to the DFW Airport in Dallas, Texas. So that made it easy, especially if you fly American. You just walk through the tunnel in the parking garage and VOILA you are there! And since we were staying at the same hotel as the convention that best thing...

Interview 10 – Michael Coulombe

On Monday, March 19, 2018 my life changed. In reality though it really changed on January 11, two months prior when, on that beautifully warm day in Los Angeles, I passed out while driving on the 134 freeway. Thankfully I was stuck in traffic. If not, I could have crashed or hit another car. I was on the phone with my business partner Taylor J. Martin. I believe the incident happened shortly after that. But let me begin at the beginning. I worked out that morning - the morning of January 11, 2018. Finally decided that I wanted to do more cardio than I normally do. I usually focus more on weight lifting. For some reason, that morning, I didn't. I felt good, left the gym with a spring in my step. Came home, made a pot of coffee, had a light breakfast and went to my room to get some work don...

Interview 2 – Brantley J. Brown

For my second interview I wanted to introduce my good friend Brantley. I am always admired by anyone who drops everything to move across country to follow their dreams. I know it isn't easy - and I know that fear can be debilitating; often times keeping people from pursuing the one thing that makes them happy. So meet Brantley J. Brown: 1. So what made you pick up everything from Tennessee and move to Southern California? I think that a lot of people, at some point in their life, stop and have a moment of reflection. They evaluate everything they've done and accomplished. Some find they are right where they want to be, and some find that they still have so much left in this world to do. I definitely am one who found that I hadn't done nearly a fraction of things that I wanted to do in my l...

Reasons to be thankful (2017)

The holidays are fast approaching. Our listeners reach out to us and tell us what they are most thankful for. So grab a mimosa and toast to your life - and your successes - and be thankful. Mattie Cooper: Denise Gossett: Veronica Kuznets (@admrlackbarsbae) tweets: I'm thankful for my family first and foremost. They don't have to be blood related or human.
